I am often asked, what you do in your spare time, where do you hangout, what is in Goa to do besides the sun, sand and seafood! Well, believe it or not there is more to this lovely state. For me a break between the mundane definitely has to include food, but does it all square down to food? Nay, not really, the ambience, the vibe, the people all of it matter.
For months on end now, I often visit this café that makes me feel at home and at ease with myself. I kind of lose myself in the calm and serene surroundings.
Being based out of South Goa, I often prefer to unwind closer to home, the winding roads, green paddy fields, coconut groves, intermittent mobile phone and radio signals! Well, South Goa does have its own charm with green for miles, unparalleled tranquility and the sleepy town vibe you wouldn’t ordinarily associate with Goa.
As I drive past, I reach Carpe Diem, conveniently at the crossroads of Majorda junction. Carpe Diem, latin for seize the day is a gorgeous art gallery- a space that inspires, fuels curiosity and allows you to think beyond the box. This gallery has a hidden gem- a café called the Isis Café famous for their delicious french sweet and savoury crepes, piping hot waffles and signature hot chocolate.
You feel tranquility surround you and the aroma of freshly baked waffles take over your senses as you climb up the wide stairway leading up to the “Balcao” right at the centre of this quaint ancestral home.
Between your delicious rendezvous, you can stroll by and appreciate the wonderful artworks on display or indulge in some shopping at the art store or simply pick a book from the bookshelf and read away. This café is a perfect spot to meet up with friends, share a cup of coffee or just chat away with the wonderful people around!
