About Marma Therapy

“The Ayurvedic route to great health involves two simple steps:
1. Doing less;
2. Being more.”
― Shubhra Krishan

Such a seemingly simple thing to do and yet, all of us, struggle with this because we glamorise the hustle and grind and often burn ourselves out way too many times. At the first sign of a migraine, vertigo or insomnia, we pop pills and seldom spare a few moments with the practitioner to try and reach the root of the problem. In this increasingly hyperconnected world, it is that much more important for us to slow down and allow the body time, adequate rest and conducive conditions so it can heal itself.

I have been to Ishavilas, a residential rejuvenation centre in Siolim a few times now. Every time I visit, I leave feeling invigorated with a list of tiny things that I can incorporate into my daily life to enhance my overall wellbeing.

Naturally, I was so happy to learn that Ishavilas had brought Dr Ali’s Time Reversal Clinic to Delhi for a few weeks. I scheduled an appointment almost immediately and had Anish, a phenomenal therapist visit my home recently to do the ‘marma therapy’ and the ‘neck connection’ massage. Guests can choose to visit The Recover Clinic in Defence Colony or coordinate with the team to organise a home visit.

Now, I must state the obvious here but it must be said that I will never recommend something on any of my platforms unless I have tried them and can truly vouch for them and this treatment is no exception to this.

I went in with a laundry list of complaints ranging from disturbed sleep, hair loss, jaw pain, vertigo, cervical issues and dizziness from time to time and migraines (usually triggered by stress, certain foods and lack of sleep. Anish listened to me very patiently and we began our first session. He kept telling me that I may feel worse before I feel better but I will experience a noticeable+ visible improvement within 24 hours. I was instructed to listen to my body, to rest as much as possible and stay hydrated post the session.

I didn’t get off the massage bed in a hurry but I can safely report feeling less sore and a considerable difference in my neck. Of course, I am adjusting my pillows, making sure I watch my posture while I work and trying my hardest to not spend too much time stooped over a phone/ computer screen. ‘Baby steps’ as they say, and it seems to be working well so far. I am opting for my second session next week and will let you know how it goes. Please feel free to reach out to me here or on Instagram to know more.

What is Neck Connection?

It is a treatment coined by Dr Ali that helps to clear blockages, improve circulation and facilitate self-healing in the body. He believes that this treatment if done consistently, can bring great relief to those suffering from headaches, hormonal issues, insomnia, anxiety and migraines. Dr Ali went on to publish a book called The Neck Connection which has done very well and sold many copies worldwide.

What is Marma therapy?

Marma is an ancient Indian healing technique which is almost 5000 years old. Here, the therapy has been adapted and developed further by Dr Ali to stimulate the nervous system, improve circulation and revitalise the muscles. There are 108 marma points (107 in the body and 1 in the mind) and the modality requires that it only be administered by a trained practitioner for you to see real results.

People who have it done regularly report:

  • healthy, radiant skin
  • cellular detoxification
  • enhanced immunity
  • balanced energy levels
  • Improved blood circulation
  • relief to those with chronic pain conditions

What is Time Reversal?

Time Reversal is the comprehensive name for Kaya Kalpa, an ancient Indian method of healing and rejuvenation. Kaya Kalpa used to be the wellbeing and anti-ageing programme used only by the nobles or elites of the society. Dr Ali has painstakingly in his decades of practice tweaked this method and coined it Time Reversal. This unique concept is based on the ancient secret art of rejuvenation that integrates various forms of treatments to facilitate healthy cellular regeneration and enhance overall wellbeing. It is based on the premise that the body is inherently capable of healing itself from almost anything and all one needs to do is to kickstart the body’s self-healing process.

This treatment has been used quite successfully to treat stroke patients and those with neurodegenerative ailments but also helps to nudge the body back into healing itself. The secret lies in the knowledge that the body is intuitive, intelligent and it has everything it needs to heal itself.

I recommend this treatment because it gave me a lot of relief and will continue to take sessions as often as I can. The team is very patient so please share all your concerns and medical history during your consult so they can customise a treatment for you, if necessary.

About Dr Ali:
