Anantara Sikao

A team and I were travelling to Trang, Thailand to witness firsthand the underwater weddings at Koh Kradan. Koh Kradan is an idyllic island with palms, powdery white sand and a sea with more hues of blue than you can count. I checked into the property on the 13th evening after a beautiful wedding reception at Rajamongal Beach- just a few minutes away from Anantara Sikao. I fell in love with the property and couldn’t wait to explore all that it had to offer. The only luxury beach resort in that area, the hotel sees honeymooners, families and couples with kids as Sikao is the perfect place to indulge in some quality time and boasts some of the best sunset views on the island.

The resort has 139 rooms spread over 3 categories-villas, pool suites and family rooms (for those travelling with young children). A state of the art gymnasium, spa and 2 separate pools (family & adults only); its the perfect venue for beachside/poolside lounging. For foodies and gourmands, there are plenty of options to tickle your tastebuds. A thai restaurant called Leelawaadi is open for buffet breakfast, Italian cafe called Acqua with breathtaking views of the ocean and nearby islands and a poolside bar and cafe for daytime snacking.

My room was large, spacious with a gorgeous balcony overlooking the family pool. Fitted with the best amenities and an open plan bathroom; my room was too large for one person but I loved being able to stay in the robe and slippers all day. I woke up feeling extremely refreshed and made a run for the gym for a quick workout before breakfast. The gymnasium was a nice stroll away from the rooms and adjacent to the spa. A quick leg workout and short cardio workout later- I was ready for breakfast. It was rather sunny but the view of the ocean was too pretty to pass up so I decided to brave it and bag a table. The breakfast was incredible and I helped myself to several servings of the juices, fruit and and the cold cuts.

We left for a little sightseeing around the island but for those of you who want to explore the hotel facilities- Anantara sure knows how to spoil you. The water babies can pick kayaks, lounge around by the pools or enroll into a dive/scuba programme to equip you with all you need to go diving. The guests at the resort have exclusive daytime access to their other property at Koh Kradan Beach to lounge, sunbathe and snorkel or dive. Mini Golf, Thai kickboxing, beach volleyball, kite surfing and wind surfing are available for the active/adventurous guest. However, if you are looking for something to soothe your nerves and fix your sore areas- opt for a 90 minute signature massage. The massage is perfect for wear travellers and is a unique blend of thai, balinese, lomi lomi and other techniques to deliver the best in relaxation.

If you are travelling with kids and are craving some alone time with your partner- the team at the resort love kids and would love to look after them for you. The newly designed children’s club named after the Dugong is the perfect place for kids to be entertained and make friends. They have a wide range of cooking classes, play dates and cinema nights to choose from that change everyday.

The perfect venue for a family vacation, honeymoon, quiet wedding or a holiday with friends- Anantara Sikao is a gem far from the craziness of Krabi. The staff is helpful and courteous and always make exceptions to make your stay worthwhile so thank them and tip generously. Remember to book your flights to Krabi because the resort is only about an hour away. Safe Travels!

I will definitely be visiting their other properties later this year. Watch the blog for more details.
