Blossom Kochhar Spalon

I visited Blossom Kochhar ‘s Spalon, in the last week of May. The Spalon, i.e. spa + salon, is located in one of the quieter parts of Hauz Khas Village. The main entrance opens into the shop area, while visitors have to walk through to the back to reach the Spalon.

Coming back to the shop, I must say, the Blossom Kochhar brand has really reinvented itself. For starters, most products are packaged in recyclable, bright-colored bottles with great graphic design elements. All the products I picked up were free from parabens, artificial fragrances, dyes, and are cruelty-free!This truly is in line with Blossom Kochhar ’s ‘Earth to Bottle’ concept. I was also pleasantly surprised to see how reasonably priced the large bottles of products were. Although, I found myself quite tempted to pick up some products,it was time for me to head in for my treatments.

I had chosen ‘Knots and Crosses’- a 60-minute long massage for my forever-stiff back, neck, and shoulders, as well as ‘Dr. Zit’- an acne facial for my sensitive, troubled skin. I was asked to wait in the downstairs spa area, where there are 3 pedicure stations. In terms of décor, the dominant color in the spa is white, which is a refreshing change from the darker, muted colors I have seen in other spas. The white upholstery is accented with bright colored cushions, and potted plants. The furniture is constructed out of a light-colored wood, which also adds to the airy feel of the Spalon.

I was then introduced to Debalina, who took me on a quick tour of the property. We walked up to the small, but tastefully-decorated Salon, across from which is the Spa section. The Spa is also decorated in the same aesthetic, and if I remember correctly, there were 3 massage tables. The temperature of the room was just right and the massage tables were perfectly comfortable, too. I also enjoyed the fact that my daytime massage felt like one, as the room was lit up with natural light. The only thing I would have changed was the music- it was just a tad too loud to be truly ambient, and the CD sometimes skipped.

I was then introduced to Lizzy, my masseuse for the day, who was extremely pleasant throughout the therapy. She asked me about my massage preferences, and focused on my shoulder blades, just like I asked. The oil used was from the Blossom Kochhar line and it had a pleasant smell of lavender. Other notes I detected were possibly of ylang ylang or vanilla. The oil was gently warmed and massaged in long, firm strokes on my back, neck and shoulders. I must confess that the ‘Knots and Crosses’ massage lived up to its name when it came to my shoulder blades. I found myself fighting the urge to whimper when Lizzy eased out my knots. Just when I thought Lizzy had massaged all my tension knots away, she found a few more! At the end of the 60-minute section, even though it was painful at times, I definitely felt lighter than when I walked in, and was even happier that the massage oil left no sticky residue on my back.

After my massage I was introduced to Saveetha for my facial treatment. She brought along many small bottles of oils and essences, which I found worrying at first considering I had signed up for ‘Dr. Zit’- a 60 minute cleansing, anti-acne facial. I told Saveetha I was concerned about putting essential oils on my sensitive, acne-prone skin. She showed me how the oils used for this particular facial treatment were unlike traditional oils and are quickly absorbed by the skin. I did a small patch test on the back of my hand of the ‘Fairy Skin Oil’ and really likedthe texture.

After I lay down, Saveetha proceeded to clean my face with diluted tea tree oil and a pleasant mint-based cleansing cream. She then applied a light, citrusy massage gel and worked it into my skin to soothe it. Then, a papaya-enzyme based desincrustation liquid was applied on my skin for a few minutes. This opened up pores to ensure that extractions left no scars behind. While the following extractions were painful, and they always are, I was alarmed to see just how much accumulated sebum she managed to take out. This solution was applied a few times until both Saveetha and I agreed that the problem spots were taken care of. Then, a gentle toner was applied to close my pores and it had a pleasant cucumber smell. Saveetha then applied a serum for a small glass vial, which stung a little bit at first, but did not feel oily at all. After this, a gentle massage gel was applied all over my face and neck.

Saveetha finished with a rather smelly spirulina-based face mask, which was left on for about 15 minutes. After she removed this, I had a good look at my skin as I was worried about what it would look like after so many different compounds. I was happy to see that my rosacea looked instantly better and my T-zone looked squeaky clean. Saveetha applied a gel-based sunscreen, which cooled my skin and wrapped up the treatment. In the future, I would love a little bit of information during every step of the treatment, which will also inform my decisions to purchase any products from this range.

For the rest of the day, my skin looked cleaner than usual but there was some redness on my cheeks the following day. While I did not develop any new acne, the redness took a couple of days to subside, and was possibly due to the natural fragrance of the oils.

Overall, I was very happy with my experience but was not prepared for the irritated skin that followed. Here is a breakdown of my experience:

1. Welcome to Spa: 5/5
2. Cleanliness of Spa: 5/5
3. Therapists Knowledge and Skill: 4/5
4. Quality of Treatment: 3.5/5
5. Quality of Products: 5/5

I will be back to try the ‘Deep Sea Detox’ and ‘Breathe’- both treatments seem to be much needed for residents of Delhi. If you are in HKV and fancy a little bit of solitude and pampering, walk into Blossom Kochchar Spalon for a luxurious experience!

I’m not sure why but this weblog is loading extremely slow
for me. Is anyone else having this problem or is it a issue on my
end? I’ll check back later and see if the problem still exists.
