When are we going to realise that home remedies are best for nixing that acne, beating belly bloat and getting rid of that tan? We use between 10-15 bottles of serums, creams and shampoos that contain a whole host of chemicals that we know nothing about. Sure, a lot has been established on the deleterious effects of talcum powder and parabens and SLS but what about the chemicals that you’ve never really heard of, they cant possibly be good for you. I am a firm believer of the notion that you shouldn’t apply anything to your body that shouldn’t be ingested because your skin absorbs and assimilates a lot of chemicals and toxins daily, which end up hurting us in the long run.
Almost everyone you meet has become more environmentally conscious and aware of the carbon footprint, the ecological balance and the harm that chemicals cause to our bodies and the environment. The organic movement has pervaded not just food and tea but household items and cosmetics too. Your beauty cabinet might not be as harmless as you think. Harsh chemicals like parabens, SLS, silicone lie in creams, lipsticks and scrubs that act as endocrine disruptors that end up causing hormonal imbalances as well as wreaking havoc on your immunity, when used over long periods of time.
Our skin is the largest organ in our body and we subject to a lot of chemical exposure daily with antiperspirants, shampoos, conditioners, lipsticks and concealers. What we don’t realise is that a lot of what we put on our skin daily ends up seeping into our bodies and damaging us in the long run. Gulnare, was conceptualised by a family of four in 2015 when Shonali Bedi realised that all you needed for a radiant, beautiful face was a few ingredients from the kitchen. The brand believes in products that are all natural, not tested on animals and free from any harsh chemicals. The brand was called ‘Gulnare’ after her mother who epitomised beauty from the inside out.
I heard a fair amount from people who had used Gulnare through The Envy Box and needed to try the products out. Karishma sent over a box of goodies for me to sample and review. Flower power, hypnos, coffee caramel body scrub and the pina colada body polish.
About the products-
Flower power comes in a beautifully packaged box. Made with the goodness of the hibiscus flower, this versatile cream doubles up as a moisturiser and as a make-up remover. All you need to do after a long night is dab some onto some cotton wool and wipe off your make up. Blended with the goodness of hibiscus flower which mimics a botox treatment, prepare to see taut, younger skin with regular use.
Hypnos is a miracle in a bottle. I absolutely loved applying this onto my calves, legs and arms after I was sore from days of rigorous training in the gym. This oil is specially formulated for pain relief and has anti inflammatory properties that work beautifully on muscle soreness, inflammation and fatigue. Unlike Ayurvedic preparations that are too sticky and oily, this one is much lighter and doesn’t have a strong fragrance so you can even put some on in the day time. Made with 14 medicinal herbs and 7 different oils, this is a bestseller and a must have for anyone who likes to work out.
Coffee Caramel body scrub is a brilliant solution for cellulite, stretch marks and dull, tired looking skin. This exfoliant is gentle on your skin and can be used every other day. Caffeine is widely known for its anti cellulite properties and for helping you get rid of water retention and puffiness. Slather some on for a week upto your beach holiday and be left with radiant, smooth skin.
Pina Colada body polish smells good enough to eat. Reminiscent of a tropical cocktail, this gorgeous body polish is very gentle on the skin. A few applications a month will leave your skin feeling nourished, moisturised and with a dewy glow. Its exfoliant works very gently to reveal baby soft skin as it gets rid of dead skin and grime. Perfect before an evening soiree or a beach vacation, I’d say.
Verdict- I carried these products with me to Thailand and Pune and absolutely loved using them. I did a patch test on my elbow for 15 minutes to make sure I wasn’t sensitive or allergic to any of the ingredients. My favourite has got to be the ‘coffee caramel scrub’ because the crystals are gentle on the skin and the results are absolutely splendid. I also loved being able to carry ‘flower power’ and use it as my moisturiser or base in the daytime and as a make-up remover towards the end of the night. The products are beautifully packaged and smell divine. I can’t wait to get my hands on the vanilla ‘glowgirl’ oil that evens out your skin tone giving you that gorgeous sun kissed, beachy bronzed look. Don’t just take my word for it- head over to www.gulnareskincare.com and find products that work for you. I promise your skin will thank you a year from now from going all natural.
