Oral Hygiene

Taking care of your teeth and gums with Pepsodent Germicheck

I know a lot of us would skimp on the time we spent brushing and flossing our teeth when we were growing up. It turns out that oral hygiene and dental health is more important than we had realised. Regular flossing, routine check ups and a consistent brushing routine keeps cavities at bay, prevents receding or bleeding gums and leaves your mouth smelling good.

If left untreated, simple cavities can turn into complex and painful root canals and harbouring bacteria in the oral cavity can predispose you to a host of different diseases. Oral hygiene is incredibly important to me and the right toothpaste matters. Pepsodent sent over their kit with toothbrushes, flavour lozenges and toothpaste. I used the #Pepsodent Germi check for two weeks pretty regularly and I have to say that I was pretty happy with the product. The little taste tablets I tried today were just a sneak peek into the enhanced taste and minty fresh breath in the new and improved #toothpaste .

Here are my top tips on improving dental health and keeping that sparkling gummy smile-
1.Brush and floss regularly. Whenever possible rinse your mouth using a mouthwash to disinfect the mouth and keep it germ free.
2.Remember to rinse your mouth after you drink anything acidic or aerated to prevent unnecessary erosion of enamel.
3.Use a straw when you sip lemonade to avoid causing damage to your teeth from the citric acid.
4.Avoid chewing and smoking tobacco and too much tea, wine or coffee as it stains your teeth. Bleaching is an expensive proposition that works away the enamel and makes your teeth more sensitive so reduce your consumption of tobacco and dark coloured drinks.
5.Practice oil pulling or use a tongue scraper to clean the toxins off your tongue.
6.Visit your dentist at least once every 6 months.
7.Eat foods that are rich in calcium like sesame seeds, chia, low fat dairy products, fortified almond milk, nuts to meet your recommended daily allowance for calcium and vitamin D.
8.When in doubt, go rinse your mouth after a heavy acidic meal to get rid of bits of food and to mitigate any bacterial growth.
9.Keep clove oil at home for any gum issues like swelling or toothache. This tiny but mighty spice can work beautifully as an analgesic and it is healthier than popping a painkiller.
