3 Secret Weapons to Beat the Heat
It’s that time of the year when you are so excited to get outside and bask in the glow of the
summer sun. However, we all know that this season comes with some serious challenges.
Queue a montage of limp greasy hair, melting makeup, chafing thighs, and uneven skin.
Somebody HELP! Don’t worry, we’ve got your back. We’ve put together a mini summer
survival guide featuring all natural and affordable ingredients to help you work around those
major summer dilemmas. Now, you can strut down the steamy streets with your bad self
cause you’ve got the tricks locked down to stay fresh!
Arrowroot Powder
We love finding non toxic, cheap and easy switches for everyday products. Arrowroot powder
is one of those amazing finds that makes us wonder how we ever got by without it.
Arrowroot powder is made from the root of a tropical plant. We love taking this magical
ingredient and dousing it all over our bodies because it is simply amazing! Especially for the
summer, arrowroot is a triple threat and works great for dry shampoo, translucent makeup
powder, and keeping your skin from chafing in the heat.
As dry shampoo-
When the humidity hits the airwaves, you say bye bye to volume and bounce. Arrowroot can
save the day as an instant dry shampoo. Take a powder brush and dip it into arrowroot
powder. Tap off the excess and apply it to your roots. Work in sections until you’ve covered
the desired parts of your scalp. Then, flip your head upside down and shake out any excess
powder. Give the powder a little time to absorb the excess oil or you can quickly run a blow dryer over your roots to set it. Say hello to bodacious and oil-free hair!
To close pores and minimise shine
Arrowroot powder works amazingly to take away the shine and make your pores less visible.
It can be used alone if you don’t need coverage or as a makeup setting powder. If you are
setting your concealer or different layers of makeup, arrowroot works great with a powder
brush or damp makeup sponge. It also works wonderfully as a last step translucent setting
powder or for t-zone touch-ups. Always remember to tap off the excess before applying.
Arrowroot has an extremely matte finish, so if you are into a more dewy finish use this
sparingly or not at all.
To prevent chafing
In the summertime, or any other hot and sweaty time (winky face), areas like thighs, arms,
and feet can rub uncomfortably. It can be used anywhere you want to keep dry. Yay for adult
baby powder. This thing works beautifully and doesn’t have the same chemicals and carcinogens that you will find in talcum powder so use this often.
