I was in Dubai for the independence day long weekend and although UAE was incredibly hot, Vida provided all the respite I needed from the unbearable heat. The hotel is strategically located on Mohammed Bin Rashid Boulevard in downtown Dubai. You are only a few minutes away from Dubai Mall and the Burj- making this the perfect place to stay if you are visiting Dubai for the first time.
The word- Vida means life in Spanish, and the hotel’s impeccable hospitality, staff to guest ratio and amenities helps to deliver a vibrant and enriching experience to its guests. The hotel epitomises chic and is the perfect marriage of modern meets traditional. The property, has 156 rooms and suites, some of which overlook the iconic Burj Khalifa. Each of these rooms is fitted with comfortable furnishings, state of the art facilities, modern accents and a tea and coffee machine. My room was facing the pool and I would often order in-room dining on a particularly hot afternoon and watch people unwind by the pool below. The rooms have a really cool media hub that allows you to connect your laptop or phone, stream your favourite episode of Narcos on Netflix or watch your favourite game- real time. If you can book ahead of time, book the junior suite (pictured below).
The Vida, takes its cuisine very seriously, best exemplified by the numerous F&B outlets in the hotel and the in-room dining. The kitchen is also very well equipped to handle allergies and special dietary requests like gluten-free, kosher, dairy free, diabetic friendly and Jain meals, upon request. I had let the hotel know about my dietary requirements prior to arrival and the team at Vida went out of their way to suggest options that were easy on the stomach, healthy and absolutely delicious.
I loved the delicious spread that in-room dining sent over for our late breakfast. We ordered the quinoa pancakes, fresh berry and fruit platter, a kebabs platter, eggs with smoked salmon and gluten-free pastry- all with a couple of lattes to wash it all down.
The hotel has several dining establishments- Stage 2, 3inone, La Serre, Downtown Toko and Vida food truck. I didn’t have a chance to experience them all as I was in Vida for only 1 night but I did manage to eat dinner at 3inone with my friend. Guests of the hotel like to spend their evenings outside and return to the hotel for a late dinner so the staff at 3inone serves food till 3 am (yes, you heard that right). The restaurant is large and spacious and has seats overlooking the pool, for those of you, who wish to smoke sheesha. I couldn’t have enough of freshly whipped hummus and pickles, so I ordered a large kebab platter, shish taouk, grilled fish and some gluten free bread with some highly aromatic Moroccan mint tea when we arrived from the Dubai Mall. The F&B staff are extremely prompt and friendly and the portions are quite generous, so don’t over order unless you are absolutely famished.
Although, the Vida doesn’t have a spa, the resort has a gorgeous pool and a state of the art gymnasium that is open 24 hours so you can burn off the kebab rolls and the turkish delight. Remember, to keep yourself hydrated at all times, as temperatures can be a bit extreme in Dubai and order a lemonade or an iced tea to cool you down post your workout.
They have complimentary internet access around the hotel, with super fast wifi and a lounge, where you can work and print out your travel documents. The hotel is also family and kid friendly and the Vida has in-room childcare services available, upon request so don’t feel guilty about spending one evening out by yourselves.
Verdict: the Vida, was the last hotel on our Dubai trip but certainly not the least. Impeccable service, the smiles from the staff and incredible food made our trip a truly memorable one. I highly recommend the Vida hotels for a perfect weekend staycation replete with poolside dining, brunch at stage 2 and hopping across to the courtyard at the Manzil for a meal you’ll never forget. For families with little children, guests at the Vida can enjoy VIP access to the Dubai aquarium and the underwater zoo for the duration of their stay. This is a great offer because you get to beat all the queues and your kids will love this interactive experience- only a few minutes away from the hotel.
